Nepal Ranked Top: ACC

Following the conclusion of the last tournament in the biennial ranking cycle of the ACC, the ACC Trophy Challenge, it has been possible to establish the final overall rankings for 2009 and 2010.

Nepal are ranked first following top three placings in the three Elite tournaments they played, followed by Hong Kong and Malaysia. Afghanistan is ranked fourth and Singapore fifth in the ranking based on a two-year cycle for men’s cricket – senior as well as age-group.

The rankings are used to determine supplementary ACC funding for the countries concerned, under the categories of Coach Assistance Equipment, School Cricket, Women’s Cricket and Governance. Out of a fund amounting to close to $1.5 million, the countries at the top of the ACC rankings receive about 40% more than the those at the bottom. The top 10 countries in the rankings also qualify to play in the 2011 ACC Twenty20 Cup which serves as a qualifier for the ICC World Twenty20 in 2012.

The newest ranking is determined by the teams’ placings in the ACC Trophies, ACC U-19 and U-16 Cups.

The list of top 10, also the qualifiers for the ACC Twenty20 Cup 2011, includes Oman (sixth), Saudi Arabia (seventh), Kuwait (eighth), UAE (ninth) and Bhutan (tenth).
