Nepal register another win in a practice match

Kathmandu – Nepal defeated Nerul Gymkhana in a T20 match by 5 wickets to keep up the winning momentum within oneself. Todays win is the four win in a row off the mumbai tour.

Nepal National Team which is in Mumbai for practice ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament to be held in UAE in March this year, was invited on field as Nerul Gymkhana won the toss.

2 wickets each from Chandra Saud and Krishna Karki, a wicket each from Basant Regmi and Rahul Kumar Vishwakarma helped Nepal to restrcit the home team to a defendable score of 117 runs for 8 wickets off the maximum 20 overs.

For Gymkhana, it was Manish Rao who topscored with 35 runs off 55 balls. Vishal Chitrakar added 20 runs from 51 balls. Rao played 2 fours while Chitrakar had a single four. Sunil Chauri was the next batsman with double digit mark. Other batsman did not go well ahead of the Nepali bowlers who looked quite good in bowling and the rest of the fielding department.

Nepal had a miserable start as it lost opener Subash Khakurel for 3 and Pradeep Airee for 7 runs. Both of the opener were caught by Oninder Singh of the ball from Satish Shinde. Fighting from 14 for 2, Paresh Lohadni who remained unbeaten at 48 runs and Paras Khadka(22) guided Nepal to a good position of 46 for 3. Khadka was caught in the ball of Manish Rao before he hit two fours and a six. While, Lohani played 55 balls hitting two fours and a six.

Gyanendra Malla(24) and Airee had the 4th wicket partnership of 45 runs then. Malla hit three fours before going for a catch out. Prithu Baskota couldn’t bat really well for Nepal as he had to go for a catch out in the ball of Arman Sheikh for 4 runs. Nepal were already in a stronger position with 98 for 5. Needed 20 runs, Lohani and Basanta Regmi guided Nepal to a victory by 5 wickets before the last ball of the inning. Regmi remained at the crease with 2 runs.

Satish Shinde and Manish Rao grabbed 2 wickets each while Arman Sheikh took one for Gymkhana.

Nepal will play against Islam Gymkhana in a 50 over match on Wednesday(As per the schedule released by CAN before departing to Mumbai)
