Nepal registers victory in practice match

Kathmandu – Nepali National Cricket team defeated Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) by 7 wickets on Friday in its first T20 practice match off the Mumbai-tour.

Nepal won the toss and invited Trust for batting. With 3 wickets each from Basanta Regmi and Sanjam Regmi, Nepal restricted Trust to a low total of 53 runs. Amrit Bhattarai bagged 2 wickets, Chandra Saud and Mahaboob Alam grabbed 2 wickets each.

In reply, Nepal chased the target in 12.3 overs losing 3 wickets. Nepal had no easy start though as opener Subash Khakurel went out in the first over scoring 4 runs. Pradeep Airee and skipper Paras Khadka went out at 8 and 6 runs respectively.

Sharad Vesawkar remained unbeaten with 19 runs while Gyanendra Malla remained not out at 11.

Nepali team led by Coach Pubudu Dassanayake and captain Paras Khadka is in Mumbai for practice matches as a preparation for the ICC World T20 Qualifiers to be held in the UAE on March.
