Nepal set to play 50th ODI match against Oman

The Nepalese national team are all set to play the 50th ODI match. The match against Oman today in ACC Premier Cup will be the team’s 50th match in the format.

Nepal has played 49 ODI matches since getting an ODI status on March 15. The debut match came against the Netherlands on August 1 2018. Similarly, Nepal managed their first-ever ODI victory against the Netherlands under Paras Khadka’s captaincy on August 3 2018.

To date, Four captains have led Nepal in ODI – Paras Khadka, Gyanendra Malla, Sandeep Lamichhane and Rohit Paudel.

Rohit Paudel is the highest run scorer for the team so far, with 1302 runs from 44 matches. Aasif Sheikh and Gyanendra Malla are on second and third with 1073 and 856 runs respectively.

Sandeep Lamichhane leads the chart of the highest wicket-taker with 99 wickets from 49 matches. The pace duo Sompal and Karan are on second and third with 61 and 56 wickets respectively.

Sandeep Lamichhane has the golden chance to break Rashid Khan’s record for becoming the fastest bowler to grab 100 ODI wickets.

The team has grabbed a victory in 26 matches facing a defeat 21 times. One match was washed out while one ended on Tie.

Oman – 6 Matches (2 wins and 4 defeats)
Netherlands – 2 Matches (1 win and 1 defeat)
