Nepal U19s thrash Kuwait by 243 runs

Nepal has registered a humungous win against Kuwait in their second match of the U-19 World Cup Asia Qualifier. Nepal bagged a massive 243 runs victory after bowling out Kuwait for a mere 100 runs in 30.5 overs. They defeated Singapore by 96 runs in the first match.

Aakash Chand was the culprit of Kuwait’s collapse. Aakash, who was roped in as the replacement for Gulshan Jha, picked up six wickets (9.5-0-38-6). Hemant Dhami (6-0-25-2) and spinner Dipesh Kandel (8-2-19-2) shared the other four wickets.

Kuwait were 34/0 at some stage, but they crumbled to a tiny total after losing ten wickets for just 66 runs. Skipper Jude Christopher Saldhana was the top scorer with 26 runs. YSBM Rasiq Mohamed and Het Kishorebhai Hinsu also assisted 19 and 16 runs.

Earlier in the first inning, Nepal piled up 343/7 in the allotted 50 overs after a century from Arjun Kumal and Dev Khanal.

Opting to bat first, Nepal were 45/2 after the powerplay, losing Deepak Bohara (13) in the ninth over, followed by a run out of last match’s player of the match Aakash Tripathi in the tenth over. Arjun Kumal and Skipper Dev Khanal then added 167 runs for the third wicket.

Arjun was dismissed in the 38th over after the brilliant knock of 108 runs smashing 12 fours. Dev added 48 more runs with Bishal Bikram Kc, who scored 14-ball 23.

Dev Completed his century from 105 balls in the 45th over. He then accelerated and eventually got out for 125 runs from 117 balls, smashing nine fours and three sixes. Dipak Bohara and Deepak Dumre also contributed quick 19 and 20 runs respectively. Nepal added 94 runs from the last ten overs.

Arsh Sahil Kazmi and Henry Thomas picked up two wickets each for Kuwait. Haiber Ali and Jay Maheshkumar Mehta also grabbed one each.
