Nepal to clash with UAE in ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2024 semifinal

The Nepalese national cricket team is set to face the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the semifinal match of the ACC Men’s Premier 2024. Nepal booked the spot in the top four after topping Group A.

The Nepalese side are unbeaten in the tournament having won all four group-stage matches. They bagged a fighting six-wicket win against Saudi Arabia on Wednesday. Nepal topped Group A with eight points from four matches. Hong Kong qualified as the runner-up from Group A having four points.

Oman are also unbeaten in the tournament and topped Group B with eight points. UAE having six points finished second in that group.

The first semifinal will see Nepal and UAE facing off, while Oman and Hong Kong will compete in the second semifinal. Both semifinals will be played on 19th April. The winner of the tournament will qualify for the Asia Cup 2025.

Nepal and UAE were the finalists of the previous edition of the ACC Premier Cup. Nepal defeated UAE by seven wickets on the reserve day to win the title. However, this time the tournament is being played in T20 format.

In the nine T20I clashes between Nepal and UAE, Nepal has claimed victory in five matches, while UAE has emerged triumphant on four occasions. The last time these two sides met in the semifinal match of the Asian qualifier for the T20 World Cup 2024. Nepal bagged an eight-wicket win and qualified for the mega event after a decade.

In the last four encounters, Nepal has won three matches. However, Nepal has lost both matches against them played in Oman.
