Nepal to compete in ACC Women’s Emerging Asia Cup after Thailand’s withdrawal

Following the withdrawal of Thailand from the ACC Women’s Emerging Asia Cup 2023, Nepal’s national women’s cricket team is now scheduled to participate in the tournament. The first-ever Women’s Emerging Asia Cup is set to be held in Hong Kong from June 13th to June 21st.

Eight teams – Nepal, Hong Kong, UAE, Malaysia and A teams of Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh will compete in the tournament. Nepal is placed in Group A alongside the host Hong Kong, India A and Pakistan A. Similarly, Sri Lanka A, Bangladesh A, UAE and Malaysia will battle in Group B.

Nepal will kick off the tournament facing Pakistan A on the 13th of June. They will play against India A and Hong Kong on the 15th and 17th of June, respectively.

The Nepalese women’s team recently returned home after playing a five-match T20I series against Malaysia. In a bilateral series played after a year, the Nepalese women’s cricket team emerged victorious by 3-2.

India A, Bangladesh A, Pakistan A, UAE and Hong Kong have already revealed their squad. Nepal is currently engaged in rapid preparations for their departure to the tournament and is expected to announce the squad soon.
