Nepal to play first T20I match against India

The Nepalese Cricket Team will be playing their first-ever T20I match against India. It was confirmed after the quarterfinal draw of Asian Games Cricket.

Today, in a lucky draw, Nepal and India were pitted against each other, with Captain Rohit Paudel drawing India’s lot.

The match will be played on Tuesday and will start at 6:45 AM (NST).

India will be Nepal’s 21st T20I opponent and the first-ever opponent who has won the World Cup. India clinched T20 World Cup in 2007 defeating Pakistan.

Nepal played their first-ever ODI match against India on September 4 during Asia Cup 2023. Despite batting well and posting 230 runs, Nepal suffered a 10-wicket loss (DLS method) in a rain-halted clash.

Meanwhile, the Nepalese team faced a 9-wicket defeat against India A in July in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup. Hence Nepalese team will be playing the third match against the Indian side in a four-month span.

Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the team full of young star players.

Nepal secured a place in the quarter-final defeating Monogila (by record 273 runs) and Maldives (by 138-run).
