Nepal U-19 practices in Darwin

Darwin will play host to Ireland and Nepal Under 19 squads next week, as they travel on their way to Queensland for the Under 19 World Cup.

The World Cup sees both Ireland and Nepal pitted in a tough Group A, with Australia and England making up the teams in the Townsville based group. The World Cup commences on 11th August with the final scheduled for 26th August.

Both teams will be in Darwin for a gruelling training schedule which also includes matches against Top End opposition. Northern Territory Cricket General Manager – Development & Performance John Stock is looking forward to the matches.

“Nepal are currently ranked 12th globally at Under 19 level and Ireland are 13th so we are expecting some good quality opposition. We have picked two teams to play them from our Top End player pool with all our local guys in the mix for further selection in either our NT Under 19 Team or the NT Strike Team.

“This is a great opportunity for the players to perform against International opposition which will bode well for Northern Territory Teams later this year,” he said.

All matches will be played at Marrara Cricket Grounds, commencing at 10am. Entry is free.
