Nepal U19 in final of ACC Elite Cup

Nepal U19 successfully chased the score of 113 runs and defeated Qatar by 6 wickets to go through the Final. Nepal will play against arch-rival Afghanistan on final of the ACC U19 Elite Cup 2011 on February 10. They have also qualified for the global Youth World Cup qualifiers to be played in Ireland in July.

Nepal U19 lost Subash Khakurel early during the chase. The score was 10/0  when he got out for 2 runs. Nepal had to bat for 20 minutes before the schedule lunch time.  Nepal lost another opener Fazlur when he was batting cleanly at 19.  At lunch Nepal was at 31/2 off 5 overs.

Naresh Budayer unbeaten 41 (50) and Sagar Pun 36 (45) then had a good partnership for the third wicket before Sagar lost his wicket. It was all powerful hitting of Pradeep Airee’s two huge sixes to conclude the match.  He remained not out 12 off 4 balls. Nepal completed its target in 20 overs.

Rahul BK  was adjudged Man of the Match. His performance with the ball  has contributed incredibly in most of the victories for Nepal.

Before, Nepal bowled out Qatar for 113 in 47 overs. Nepal won the toss and chose to field first on the most awaited Semi final match against Qatar which kicked off today at AIT Ground.

Qatar started the inning very steadily as they were 7 without loss at 4th over. At the half way stage of the inning, they managed to score 64/4. But the wicket tumbled at regular intervals as Rahul BK’s bowling form boosted Nepal to stop them for 80/8 in 33 overs. He took 4 wickets in his ten over for 12 runs with 4 maidens, Bhuwan Karki 2 wickets and Rahul B.K took 1 wicket. 3 batsmen were runout.

Rahul BK have the wicket tally of 20 in the tournament, a probable for Man of the Series.

Nepali U19 Captain Prithu was injured during fielding and was taken to the hospital immediately for the X-ray. “It’s not a facture, just a legament tear and Doctor suggest, he needs 3 week rest”, team manager said.

Nepal will play the final match at Terdthai Cricket Ground on February 10.
