Nepal Umpires at Dhaka Carnival 2011

On a special invitation from Bangladesh Umpires & Scorers Association, Nepal Cricket umpires and scorers team left for “Umpires Cricket Carnival 2011” and Umpiring Workshop, being held from July 21 – 27, 2011 at Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Before, the crew members were felicitated at Nepal Sports Council Office by Yuvraj Lama, Member Secretery together with Binay Raj Pandey, President of Cricket Association of Nepal.

A 12 member team of Binay Kumar Jha, Himal Raj Giri, Durga Nath Subedi, Raman Siwakoti, Satyajit Sarkar, Mohammed Safif, Manjul Bhattarai, Ashim Subedi, Shailendra Raj Nepal, Homendra Chhetry, Suraj Ratna Shakya and Raju Basnet left to Dhaka on Tuesday July 19.

In connection with the carnival a day-long programme will be held Friday from 8:30am to 6:00pm at Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium (DCS). The day’s events will be as follows: Six-a-Side Cricket Tournament, Reception to the former Test and National Cricket Umpires and Scorers including renowned cricket personalities, campaign for votes in favour of “The Sundarbans” (Forest) to elect as the best place among the New Seven Wonders of the World, prize giving ceremony followed by a cultural programme.

In the second phase of the carnival the following programmes will be observed in Cox’s Bazar from July 23 to July 26.

President and the board of directors of Bangladesh Cricket Board, renowned cricket personalities, former and present captains of national cricket team, ex-cricketers, coaches, match referees, former and present umpires and scorers including electronics and print medias will also be present in the week-long carnival.

Meanwhile, Nepal Cricket Umpires team and the host association team will play two T20 Cricket matches.
