Nepal Women clinch historic clean sweep against Qatar

Nepal Women on Thursday completed a historic 3-0 clean sweep against Qatar Women by recording an emphatic 109 runs victory in the third and final T20 Internationals in Doha.

On a West End Park International Cricket Stadium, Nepal Women posted 164 for 3 in their 20 overs, largely due to Sita Rana Magar’s dazzling 82 runs innings.

Magar, who is the leading run-scorer for Nepal in Women’s T20 Internationals, scored a brilliant unbeaten 82 off 72 balls with 7 boundaries.

Jyoti Pandey contributed 24 from 20 balls with a boundary while Dolly Bhatta managed 12 from 9 balls and Sarita Magar finished with an unbeaten 17-runs from 11 balls.

For Qatar, Angeline Mare, Saachi Dhadwal, and Aysha took one wicket each.

In reply, Qatar Women only managed 55 for 7 in their 20 overs. Aleena Khan top-scored with 19 off 33 balls with 3 boundaries and Skipper Aysha hit a boundary and six to score 13 off 14 balls. No other batters could manage double-digit scores during the chase.

Nepal Women produced four dismissals from runout while Sabnam Rai, Saraswati Kumari, and Rubina Chhetri were awarded wicket apiece.

Nepal clean sweep the series 3-0 and Skipper Rubina Chhetri was adjudged Player of the Series.

The Nepali Women’s squad will fly out to Dubai on November 19 for the ICC Women’s World Cup Asia qualifiers scheduled for 22nd to 28th November.

Nepal will take on hosts UAE, Malaysia, Bhutan, Hong Kong, and Kuwait.
