Nepal women register a fighting win against Bhutan women

The Nepalese women’s cricket team have registered a fighting win against Bhutan women in the third match of the ICC T20 World Cup Asia Region Qualifier. Nepal registered a third win in a row with a 3-wicket win.

Chasing a target of 40 runs, the Nepalese side struggled with the bat and reached the feat in 13.2 overs, losing seven wickets in the process. Nepal lost Kabita Kunwar for a duck in the second over. Similarly, Ashmina Karmacharya, Samjhana Khadka and Indu Barma were also sent back for a duck as Nepal were in a pitiful condition of 16/5.

Skipper Rubina Chhetri scored an unbeaten 12 runs from 23 balls to secure Nepal’s victory. Kabita Joshi and Sita Rana Magar also contributed nine (from 20 balls) and eight (from 11 balls), while nine runs came as an extra.

Earlier, Nepal restricted Bhutan to 39/8 at the UKM-YSD Cricket Oval, Bangi, after opting to bowl first. Four Bhutanese players were also dismissed for a duck. Captain Dechen Wangmo top scored with 21 runs from 44 balls. Other batters couldn’t score a double-digit figure.

Puja Mahato was the pick of a bowler for Nepal. She picked up three wickets from three overs (one maiden), conceding just six runs. Rubina Chhetri, Khusi Dangol and Kabita Kunwar also pocketed one wicket each.

Nepal registered a fighting five-run win against Malaysia in the first match. They bowled out Bahrain for 31 and chased the target in just 2.5 overs in the second match.
