Nepal Women’s Cricket Team faces defeat in maiden T20I clash with Tanzania
The Nepalese Women’s has suffered a defeat against Tanzania women in the first match of the four-nation T20I series in Hong Kong. The tournament features women’s teams from Nepal, Hong Kong, Tanzania, and Japan.
Nepal faced a defeat of 27 runs in the first-ever T20I match against Tanzania. Nepal holds the 21st position, whereas Tanzania is ranked 19th in the ICC rankings. This is also a debut match for Indu Barma as a captain.
Chasing a target of 116 runs, Nepal were bowled out for 88 in 16.5 overs, falling short by 27 runs. Nepal were in a pitiful situation of 17/5, losing Bindu Rawal, Samjhana Khadka and Rubina Chhetri for a duck.
Sita Rana Magar then played a brilliant knock to guide Nepal towards a respectful total. She hammered 31-ball 43 with the help of four sixes. Indu Barma was the only other batter with a double-digit score (17 runs).
Jerome picked up three wickets while Puis grabbed a couple of wickets for Tanzania.
Earlier in the first inning, Tanzania managed to score 115/7 in 20 overs after opting to bat first at Hong Kong Cricket Club. HM Omary top scored with 25 runs while A Mohammed and S Mtae contributed 21 and 16 runs respectively.
For Nepal, Sangita Rai picked up two wickets. Indu Barma, Rubina Chhetri and Puja Mahato grabbed one wicket each.
