Nery Thapa Magar, the inaugural captain and iconic figure of the Nepal women’s cricket team, has declared her retirement. She made the announcement via her social media platform on Monday night.
Nery announced her retirement from both national and international cricket with an immediate effect.
“It was a great 17 years of incredible journey with a lot of upsides and downsides in my cricket career. Thank you everyone for your support”, Nery writes.

Under her leadership, Nepal competed in their inaugural international tournament at the Asian Cricket Council women’s tournament in Johor, Malaysia, where they reached the final but were defeated by Bangladesh.
Nery played in 11 WT20I matches for Nepal, accumulating 63 runs and claiming 17 wickets.
Thapa represented Banke district, enjoyed a prolonged tenure playing for the Armed Police Force (APF) women’s team in domestic cricket.
She is a left-handed batter and bowled slow left-arm orthodox.
