Nepali cricketers to play in US

Three Nepali cricketers- Kaniska Chaugain, Bantu Bataju and Santosh Gere – are set to play in the NCCA T20 tournament, featuring six teams, schedule to be held in California from July 2-4.

The tournament will be organised by the Northern California Cricket Association. Kaniska will be playing for Bay Area Fooglers, while Bataju and Gere will be representing defending champions San Francisco Blasters (SF Blasters), who are the most successful teams in the event with four back to back titles under their belt.

NCCA T20 (Now called Yellow Pages NCCA T20) is an IPL style T20 tournament which will be held between six teams, including, SF Blasters, CSZ Titans, Cloudalyze Spinners, Stanford Supernovas, Fooglies and US Warriors. A total of eighty four players, including icon players who were bought in an IPL Style Bidding from player auction, will be representing the six teams.

A total of nine games – six group stage, two semis and a final – will be played. All matches will be played at the California Santa Clara Cricket Ground. YP NCCA T20 is a USACA approved NCCA T20 event and is dubbed as the greatest ever T20 event to be held by NCCA.

The tournament will be played under ICC T20 standards. According to Gere, though Nepal has the potentials to beat any cricketing nations, they lack good cricket kits and adequate pitches.
