Netherlands clinch T20I Triangular Series title with thrilling victory over Nepal

The Netherlands Cricket Team have won the title of the T20I Triangular Series between Nepal, Namibia and Netherlands. The Dutch team defeated Nepal in the final match to win the trophy.

The Netherlands bagged a four-wicket win in the chase of 185 runs. They completed a chase with three balls spare losing six wickets. They needed 40 runs from the last three overs when Sybrand Engelbrecht smacked 21 runs from Abinash Bohara’s over. In the penultimate over, Kushal Malla managed to dismiss Engelbrecht and Teja Nidamanuru, but conceded 12 runs in the process. Karan KC was handed a ball to defend seven runs from the last over but van der Gugten hammered a four and six to seal the win for the Dutch side.

Opener Michael Levitt top-scored for the Netherlands with 29-ball 54. Sybrand Engelbrecht notched up 48 runs from 29 balls whilst Timm van der Gugten remained unbeaten for 21 from five balls. Kushal Malla picked up four wickets (3-0-33-4) for Nepal. Dipendra Singh Airee and Abinash Bohara also grabbed one wicket each. 

Earlier in the first inning, Nepal posted 184/8 after opting to bat first. Aasif Sheikh scored the highest 47 runs for Nepal. Kushal Malla and Kushal Bhurtel played an aggressive knock of 11-ball 26 and 10-ball 20 respectively. Gulshan Jha and Rohit Paudel also contributed 34 and 25 runs.
