NSC appoints Angbuhang as New PRESIDENT OF CAN

National Sports Council (NSC), the sports governing body in Nepal appointed Tanka Angbuhang as the president of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) today.

On a Press Release published today, NSC dissolved the present standing committee and reconstituted him in the leadership role.

Previously, NSC leadership had fixed August 26 as the deadline for conducting elections to all member associations. Later, NSC had extended the deadline by two weeks for conducting the election. But CAN did not hold elections even during the extended deadline.

With the announcement, Binaya Raj Pandey’s reign has been brought to an end in the national cricket’s governing body. Former national players including Aamir Akhtar had filed a public interest litigation against CAN, blaming it for not holding elections for over six decades.
