Oman advances to the semi-final with a dominant win over Saudi Arabia

Oman has advanced to the semifinal of the ACC Men’s Premier Cup. They defeated Saudi Arabia by 72 runs in the final league stage match at TU Cricket Ground on Wednesday.

Invited to bat first, Oman piled up a massive score of 366/6 in the allotted 50 overs. All batters till number five scored a half-century to help their side rack up a massive total. Openers Kashyap Prajapati (51) and Jatinder Singh (88) added 125 runs for the opening wicket. Shoaib Khan and Zeeshan Maqsood then made 68 and 54 runs respectively. Mohammad Nadeem, in the end, added a firework with 38-ball 71. He smacked six fours and four biggies. 

Atif-Ur-Rehman grabbed three wickets for Saudi Arabia. Abdul Wahid also dismissed two batters.

Saudi Arabia, in response, scored 294 runs before being bowled out in 46.5 overs. They were in a good position till the 29th over with a score of 184/1. All of a sudden, they were 189/4 in a couple of overs and eventually lost nine wickets for just 110 runs. Opener Abdul Waheed missed out on his second century of the tournament falling just five runs short. Saad Khan also scored 78 runs.

For Oman, Bilal Khan pocketed four wickets. Jay Odera and Zeeshan Maqsood also bagged three and two scalps respectively. Skipper Maqsood was adjudged player of the match.

Oman were defeated by Nepal in the first match and won all three remaining matches. Oman will top the group if Qatar can stun Nepal in the last group-stage match.
