Oman moves closer to semi-final after beating Malaysia

Oman has made their semi-final hopes stronger after defeating Malaysia on Sunday. After a loss against Nepal, Oman bounced back well and registered an easy eight-wicket win at Mulpani Cricket Ground.

Forced to bat first, Malaysia managed 227/9 on the board after the allotted 50 overs. Virandeep Singh top scored with 94 runs from 144 balls with the help of 13 fours. Muhamad Syahadat scored 55, whereas Muhammad Wafiq smacked 10-ball 19 at the end.

Zeeshan Maqsood was the pick of a bowler for Oman, grabbing four wickets. Bilal Khan and Aayan Khan also pocketed a pair of wickets each.

In reply, Oman comfortably chased the target with 50 balls spare losing just a couple of wickets. Kashyap Prajapati and Jatinder Singh shared 123 runs for the first wicket before the departure of Prajapati for 66 runs. Jatinder remained unbeaten, scoring 101 runs from 112 balls. Skipper Zeeshan Maqsood also remained unbeaten for 52 runs and was adjudged Player of the Match for his all-round performance.

Muhammad Amir picked up both wickets for Malaysia.

Oman will face Saudi Arabia at TU Cricket Ground in their final group-stage match on April 26. Similarly, Malaysia will face Qatar on April 25 in Mulpani.
