Paras-XI defeat Binod-XI

KATHMANDU: Skipper Paras Khadka lead his namesake Paras-XI to a seven-run win over Binod-XI in a Twenty20 practice match here at the Tribhuvan University grounds today.

Paras-XI scored 134-8 before restricting Binod-XI to 127-9 in 20 overs. Skipper Paras struck a scintillating half century with four sixes and a four in his fiery 29-ball knock. He was ably support with the bat by Gyanendra Malla, who made 32. Malla struck two sixes and as many fours. Avinash Karn and Shakti Gauchan took two wickets each while skipper Binod Das, Basant Regmi and Sanjam Regmi claimed one apiece for Binod-XI.

Chasing 135 to win, only Mehboob Alam led the fightback as wickets fell at regular intervals at the other end. Alam remained unbeaten on 55 runs. He hit four sixes and as many fours in his 35-ball knock. Amrit Bhattarai was the pick of the Paras-XI bowlers with 3-13. Rahul BK took two while Krishna, Bhuwan Karki, Sharad and Paras bagged one each.

The match was organised as part of Nepal’s preparation for the SAARC Twenty20 Championship scheduled for October 31 to November 7 in Maldives.
