Paschimanchal and APF start Indian Ambassadors Cricket Cup with win

Kathmandu – Paschimanchal and APF registered the win in the opening day of Indian Ambassador’s Cricket Cup.

In a first match played at TU ground, Paschimanchal defeated Purbanchal by 122 runs. Paschimanchal opted to bat first after winning the toss. Dipesh Khatri and Aakash Gupta shared a 132 runs partnership for fifth wicket as Paschimanchal made a big total of 212 runs losing 6 wickets off the alloted 20 overs.

Aakash scored a quick fire 50 runs off 17 deliveries and extended it to 96 runs off 29 balls including five boundaries and eleven sixes. Dipesh played 30 balls 43 with three fours and three sixes. Sagar Pun, Fazlur Rehman and Antim Thapa added 24, 17 and 12 runs respectively for the winning side.

Hari Chaulagain and Puspa Thapa grabbed two wickets each for Purbanchal while Manjeet Shrestha and Amit Dahal shared a wicket each.

In reply, Purbanchal’s inning was closed at 90 for 9 wickets off 20 overs. Santosh Baral top scored with 27 balls and Amit Dahal remained unbeaten at 14 runs. Sunny Pun made 13 runs. None of the other batsman could reach the double digit score.

Paschimanchal showed a good piece of cricket, from batting, fielding and bowling. Krishna Karki, Bibek Chaudhary and Rahul V.K. took 2 wickets each for the winning team while Dipesh Khatri and Lal Bahadur Karki got a wicket each.

Aakash Gupta was later adjudged as player of the match.

In another match played later in the day at TU ground, APF defeated Madhyamanchal by 88 runs. APF put up the total of 199 runs for a wicket in 20 overs after they elected to bat first winning the toss. A brilliant show from Subash Khakurel and Paresh Lohani put up team in a position of 187 runs for loss of no wickets. The partnership of 187 runs eventually broke up as ¨Paresh was caught at the ball of Rupesh Shrivastav. Subash played 66 balls to reach the first century of the tournament. Subash played 9 boundaries and hit four big sixes. Paresh hit eight fours and four fours.

In reply, Madhyamanchal were restricted to 111 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. They had a disastrous start as they lost 2 wickets early for just 6 runs. Rajesh Pulami and Binod Das put up a partnership of 49 runs. Rajesh played 25 balls hitting three fours. Binod remained unbeaten at 43 runs playing 51 balls hitting three fours and a six. Shiva Tandukar made 23 runs off 25 balls with two big sixes.

Mahaboob Alam grabbed 2 wickets for APF while Shakti Gauchan, Paras Khadka, Basant Regmi and Sunam Gautam shared a wicket each.

Purbachal will face Sudur Paschimanchal while Madhyamanchal will lock horn with Madhya Paschimanchal on the second day of the tournament on Monday.
