Pentagon and Mahendra enter semi final

Cricnepal/Dhangadi: Pentagon International College, Kathmandu and Mahendra Namuna College, Dadeldhura entered into the semi final of the biggest cash prize tournament of Nepal The Hotel Devotee SPA Cup with respective victories on Saturday.

Pentagon defeated Kailali Multiple College by a huge margin of 94 runs while Mahendra Namuna shattered Triton International College’s dream by nine runs.

Played at Zonal Police Office Cricket Ground, Mahendra Namuna opted to bat first. Opener Roshan Nepali continuing his fine form in the tournament scored half century off 43 balls as Mahendra scored a total of 145 runs in 20 overs. Roshan hit five fours and three sixes. Dipendra Chand 18, Dilip Nath 15 were some other contributors. Manjeet Shrestha took four wickets for Triton. Sunam Gautam grabbed three while Ajay Rajbansi and Ritesh Singh took one each.

In reply, Triton managed to score only 136 runs losing seven wickets. Triton had a bad start as Sunnny Pun went out in the very first ball. Sunam Gautam and Dipendra Chaudhary then shared a 42 runs partnership for the second wicket but the score made by other batsman was not enough for the win. Dipendra lost his wickets for 7 runs. Sunam Gautam scored 31 runs off 26 deliveries with three fours and a six. Antim Thapa and Manjeet Shrestha later accelerated the innings from 44/5 to 100. Surendra Chand took the two crucial wickets of Manjeet and Antim as Mahendra had the control over the game. Manjeet Shrestha got bowled in 17th over for 28 runs while Antim scored 39 runs.Ajay Rajbanshi added 22 runs.

Roshan Nepali and Surendra Chand were jointly awarded as player of the match.

While in the another quarter final match, Pentagon went into bat first and scored a big total of 199 runs losing 2 wickets. Pentagon lost their first wicket in eighth over at the score of 76 runs. Mehboob Alam quickfired 47 runs off 21 balls with four fours and equal sixes. Naresh Budhayair and Mahesh Chhetri then shared a partnership of 45 runs for second wicket. Mahesh scored 37 runs before losing his wicket in 14th over. Naresh and Pushpa Thapa played unbeaten innings and took Pentagon to a big total. Naresh remained unbeaten at 55 off 40 balls while man of the match Pushpa was not out at 51 runs. Naresh hit five fours and two sixes while Pushpa hit seven fours and two sixes.

Milan Chhetri and Gyanendra Chhetri took a wicket each for Kailali.

In reply, Kailali managed to score only 105 runs losing six wickets. Kailali lost their first wicket in third over. Roman Bom and Binod Lama held Kailali’s innings for some overs with partnership of 48 runs for second wicket. Bom was later bowled by Raj Kumar Pradhan in 12th over for 37 runs. Binod scored 13 runs. Suresh Dhami scored 17 runs while none of the other batsman could manage to score a double digit.

Naresh Budhayair picked up two wickets while Mehboob Alam, Raj Kumar Pradhan, Binod Chhetri and Kamal Kishore Premi grabbed a wicket each for Pentagon.

In the last quarter final match on Sunday, NASA International College will face Aishwarya Vidya Niketan.
