Prithu & Rajesh drives Nepal U19 to victory

The Under 19 team lead by Prithu Baskota defeated the Millennium International Sports Club from Delhi by a huge margin of 255 runs in the friendly match played at Tribhuvan University Stadium,Kirtipur here on Tuesday.

U-19 team won the toss and decided to bat fast. This time the openers of the U-19 team were able to make a good base for the team.  Subash Khakurel and Pradeep Airee made 51 runs partnership for the first wicket. Subash personally contributed 15 runs while Pradeep scored 32 runs with the help of 7 fours.  Sagar Pun managed 11 runs for the team.

Like Always the skipper, Prithu Baskota controlled the innings of the U-19 team. With the help of 12 fours and a six he managed 88 runs for the team. Nevertheless, Rajesh Pulami and Krishna Karki also had important role for guiding the U-19 team to the total of 358 runs. Rajesh was able to score an unbeaten century including 7 fours and 3 sixes. By hitting 4 sixes Krishna scored 53 runs for the team. Both Rajesh and Krishna remained not out till last.

The bowling of the Millenium Club was not so good as they offered 58 extra runs including 43 wides. However,Tarun Raghubanshi of Millenum Sports club showed his quality bowling. With 3 maiden overs and 2 wickets he gave away just 30 runs in his 10 overs spell. Other bowler’s weren’t so economic but they managed wickets. Sumit Panwar and Saurav Suneja both took 2 wickets while Yogesh Shama had a wicket in his name.

The batsmen of Millennium Sports Club faced hard against the tight and class bowling of the U-19 team and hence they were all out for 103 runs in 31 overs. Except the opener batsman Pradeep Rathi, who scored 60 runs with 10 fours and a six, no other batsman of Millennium Sports Club could resist the tight bowling of the U-19 team. Three batsman of Millennium Sorts Club were duck out while 3 other batsmen were out for just 1 runs. Saurabh Sueja managed 18 runs for the foreign club 18 runs by playing 38 balls.

All 7 bowlers from the U-19 team put pressure on the Millennium Sports Club.  The centurion guy Rajesh Pulami took 3 wickets giving away just 5 runs. Spinner Bhuwan Karki and the pacer Avinash Karn both took 2 wickts for the team. Nischal Pandey bowled really well as he took the important wicket of  Pradeep Rathi with 2 madien overs giving away just 10 runs only in his 5 overs spell. Prithu and Krishna both managed 1-1 wicket for the team.

Adhip Pradhan and Ram Kailash Yadav officiated the friendly match.
