Purbanchal out; Hasim Ansari guides Madhyamanchal to victory

Kathmandu – Sudur Paschimanchal and Madhyamanchal registered the victories against Purbanchal and Madhya Paschimanchal respectively in the second day of the Indian Ambassador’s Cricket Cup being held at TU Ground.

In the morning match, Sudur Paschimanchal won the toss and invited Purbanchal on field. Though losing opener Pradeep Airee for 3 runs, Prashant Bist 29 ball 30 and Santosh Bhatt 17 ball 26 put up a second wicket partnership of 44 runs while Binod Bhandari 22 ball 12 added another 44 runs partnership for third wicket to put up the team total to a good level with 145 runs in loss of 9 wickets. Bist hit two fours and a six, Bhatt played six boundaries while Bhandari had a four and a six.

Chandra Saud played some good shots but failed to use it for additional overs as he had to depart with 15 runs off 11 balls that included a six and a four. Dev Narayan Jha, the only other batsman to enter into a double digit score scored 10 runs.

Manjeet Shrestha, Manoj Mandal, Amit Dahal, Santosh Baral and Puspa Thapa picked up a wicket each for Purbanchal.

Prem Budal’s 2 for 9, Sunil Tamang’s 2 for 8, and a wicket each from Santosh Bhatt, Bhuwan Karki and Keshar Khadka helped Sudur Paschimanchal to restrict Purbanchal for only 79 runs grabbing all ten wickets in 20 overs.

Four of the batsman namely, Bibek Khatiwada 14 not out, Amal Das 11, Amit Dahal 10, Hari Chaulagain 10 scored the only double digit mark for Purbanchal.

Santosh Bhatt from Sudur Paschimanchl was adjudged as player of the match for his 26 runs and a wicket.

After the two consecutive loss Purbanchal previously to Paschimanchal by a huge 122 runs on Sunday are out of the tournament.

In the second match played at the same venue, Madhyamanchal put into bat first winning the toss. 65 balls century knock from Hasim Ansari saw the team a stronger chance after they put up a massive total of 199 runs for loss of 4 wickets off the 20 overs. Ansari who made 50 runs in just 38 balls hit nine fours and four sixes. Ansari had a 107 runs partnership for first wicket with Shiva Tandukar who scored 49 runs off 36 balls including six boundaries and a six.

Binod Das with 13 balls 29 runs shared a 39 runs partnership between Ansari. Das struck three fours and added two sixes.

Siddhant Raj Shahi grabbed 2 wickets for Madhya Paschimanchal while Navin Shahi and Anupam Singh picked up a wicket each.

Rajesh Pulami showed a brilliant piece of bowling as he picked up 3 crucial wickets conceding 8 runs. Binod Das proved with his bowling as he picked up 2 wickets off his 4 overs spell conceding only 13 runs. Sudip Poudel took 2 wickets while Rupesh Shrivastav, Pramod Basnet and Naresh Raj Giri shared a wicket each for the winning side.

Hasim Ansari was adjudged as the player of the match for his century knocK.

On Tuesday, the last day of the group stage matches, Sudur Paschimanchal will play against Paschimanchal in the first match and APF will take on Madhya Paschimanchal in the second match.
