Rashid Khan has bagged the fourth T20 hat-trick of his career. The Afghan leg spinner became the player with the most hattricks in T20 (4). Andrew Tye, Mohammad Sami, Amit Mishra, Andre Russell, and Imran Tahir have three each to their name.
Completing a hat-trick against Kolkata Knight Riders in Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, Khan pocketed his first IPL hat-trick and also became the first Gujrat Titans player to complete the feat.
Khan, who also became the first Afghan player to pick a hat trick in IPL, has previously picked up a hat trick in the Big Bash League, Caribbean Premier League, and T20 International match.
His hat trick included the wickets of Andre Russel, Sunil Narine, and Shardul Thakur in the 17th over of the match. He finished with figures of 3-37 in his four overs despite conceding 35 from the previous three overs.
Despite Rashid Khan’s impressive performance, Titans were unable to defend their total of 204, as Rinku Singh’s magical display in the final over helped Kolkata Knight Riders snatch a thrilling three-wicket victory. Singh smashed five consecutive sixes in the last over against Yash Dayal when 29 runs were required.
Rashid Khan has 536 wickets to his name from just 396 matches in T20. The 24-year-old has grabbed four fifers and ten four-wicket hauls.
