Red Cherry faces defeat

Cricnepal/Kathmandu: Red Cherry Lalitpur-XI lost their opener against Collage Group of Delhi by six wickets in the Sir Vizzy Memorial All India Cricket Tournament in Banaras on Wednesday.

Electing to bat first, Red Cherry managed to score 142 runs in 38.2 overs with  skipper Prashanna Shakya top scoring 38 runs. Sujan Maharjan 25 and Praveen Joshi 28 were the only other major contributors for Red Cherry. Nischal Pandey’s 15, Hasim Ansari’s 13 didn’t add much to the scorecard.

Abhay Negi, finished off with an impressive figure of 4-19 for Collage while Subodh Bhati and Puneet Mehra added two wickets each. Mohammad Saquib and Rajbir Singh claimed a wicket each.

In reply, Surender Dahiya scored an winning 57 runs for Collage, as they registered the victory in 25 overs losing only four wickets. Rahul Suraj Yadav scored 36 runs while Puneet Mehra added 22 for the wining side.

Ram Naresh Giri, Dipendra Shah, Nischal Pandey and Prashanna Shakya picked up one wicket each for the Nepali team.
