Rohit Paudel’s blazing century leads Nepal to a thrilling win over West Indies A

The Nepalese national cricket team bagged a historic win against West Indies A on Saturday. Nepal defeated West Indies A by four wickets at TU Cricket Ground to lead the five-match T20 series 1-0.

Captain Rohit Paudel was the hero for Nepal, scoring a brilliant century which helped his side chase the target of 205 runs with two balls spare.

Nepal lost both openers Anil Sah (5) and Kushal Bhurtel (16) without doing any special and they were 38/2 in the fifth over. Kushal Malla also walked back for 16 before Rohit Paudel and DS Airee shared 64 runs stand for the fourth wicket.

Airee scored 24 before leaving the crease. But captain Rohit Paudel kept going and anchored the inning. He completed a terrific ton in just 47 balls. New batter Bibek Yadav also failed to do any special as he was dismissed for seven. Paudel finally was dismissed in the last ball of the penultimate over after scoring 112 runs from 54 balls.

Pratish GC scored a boundary in the first ball which made the equation nine runs from the last six balls. A couple of singles were taken in the first two balls of the last over and then Gulshan Jha smacked a back-to-back boundary to complete a fantastic chase from Nepal.  For the losing side, Matthew Forde and Obed McCoy picked up a couple of wickets.

Earlier, West Indies A posted a huge total of 204/5 after being invited to bat first. They lost Johnson Charles early on for a duck but it was whacking all around after that.

Andre Fletcher scored five-ball 13 before Alick Athanaze scored a brisk 47. It was captain Roston Chase who top-scored for the Windies with 46-ball 74. Keacy Carty also notched up 38 runs.

For Nepal, Abinash Bohara did a great job picking up one wicket for just 28 runs (4-0-28-1). DS Airee, Rohit Paudel and Kamal Singh Airee also picked up one wicket each.

The second match will be played on April 28 at the same venue.
