Rubina Chhetri’s Barmy Army Women secure third position in FairBreak Invitational Tournament

Nepal national women’s team captain Rubina Chhetri’s team, Barmy Army Women, has secured the third position in FairBreak Invitational Tournament. They defeated Spirit Women by 22 runs in a third-place playoff on Sunday.

Invited to bat first, Barmy Army posted 147/4 after Deandra Dottin’s blistering 38-ball 75. In reply, Spirit Women were restricted to 125/6.

Rubina couldn’t pick any wicket from three overs but conceded just 12 runs. She bowled the first over of the inning and conceded just two runs. She then conceded five each from her next two overs.

Rubina scored 45 runs (from two innings) and picked up eight wickets from five matches in the tournament. She became the first associate bowler to grab a fifer in the tournament.

Nepal’s other superstar, Sita Rana Magar, also pocketed four wickets (from three innings) during the tournament. She won the tournament with Tornadoes last season.

Sindhu Sriharsha’s Warriors Women defeated Falcons Women to clinch the title of 2023’s edition. Hayley Matthews’ 123-run knock and a couple of wickets helped her side win the match by massive 94 runs.
