SAMV Clobber Galaxy in Final

Cricnepal/Kathmandu: Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya(SAMV) absolutely smashed Galaxy Public School in the final, defeating them by 10 wickets to snatch the 6th Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Inter School Running Cricket Tournament,

Batting first Galaxy kneeled to the sturdy bowling assault of SAMV and could manage only 86 runs bdfore getting knocked over . SAMV batsmen stamped their authority with the bat, getting to the target without losing a single wicket and more than half of the overs to spare.

Galaxy had a sloppy start and then were never able gather themselves up. SAMV struck early as Basu Pariyar got in form Nabin Budathoki in the second ball of the first over. Things turned more ugly when Aman Jain was run out for 2 in the fifth ball of the same over, at score of just two runs. The third and fourth wicket  added 20 and 24 runs respectively, with Akash Bista in the middle. Aakash Bista made 32 of 27 balls for Galaxy before getting out to Prashant Shrestha as the fifth wicket when the score was 49, in the 10th over. In was all downhill from there for Galaxy  .Aditya Pandey made 12 runs,as galaxy lost last four wickets for just 14 runs. Arjun Bhusal and Prashant Shrestha picked up two wickets each for SAMV. Three of the galaxy batsmen were run out. Dharmendra Rana, Basu Baniya and Gunjan Yadav got wicket a piece.

In reply SAMV openers Niraj Shrestha and Abishek Poudel rushed to the target with nearly 11 overs to spare. The second over  of the inning of Rajendra Pal alone fetched SAMV 22 runs, while that of Adil Khan went ofr 24 runs. Player of the match Niraj Shrestha, the main culprit behind Galaxy’s bowler’s poor figures scoring 50 runs of just 31 balls and Abishek Poudel gave him a steady support with 23 of 25 balls, The winning runs came as a boundary, Nabin Budathoki walloped for four as SAMV chased down the total in the first ball of ninth over and won the tournament for 5th time in a row.

Galaxy’s nabin Budathoki was declared the best batsmen. SAMV’s Prashant shrestha was adjudged the best bowler and protagonist of the final match win for SAMV, Niraj Sherstha was awared the player of the tournament medal

The wining team and the finalist were awarded with certificates, trophies. Medal, and cash prize  The winning team bagged Rs.20000 while the runner’s up received Rs.10000.

Prizes were given by Chief Guest Netra Bahadur Thapa (Lt. General of Army), Dhani Das Karki (Director of Nepal Army Welfare Planning)
