Lamichhane and Airee to miss ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup

Sandeep Lamichhane and Dipendra Singh Airee, two key players of the Nepal national cricket team, will not be participating in the ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup. Both Lamichhane and Airee will be involved in Canada’s Global T20 League.

Emerging Teams Asia Cup will take place from July 14th to July 23rd, 2023, in Sri Lanka. Similarly, the third edition of GT20 Canada will be played between July 20 to August 6.

Airee and Lamichhane were picked via draft by Montreal Tigers and Surrey Jaguars, respectively. Dipendra Singh Airee is set to play the foreign franchise league for the first time in his career. Lamichhane, on the other hand, has played GT20 Canada in both previous editions- once for Montreal Tigers and next for Toronto Nationals.

Lamichhane’s team consists of star players like Alex Hales, Iftikhar Ahmad, Jason Beherendorff, and Litton Das. Similarly, Airee will play alongside Shakib Al Hasan, Andre Russel, Chris Lynn, and Carlos Brathwaite.

Meanwhile, the Nepalese side will start the Emerging Asia Cup campaign on the 14th of July, facing Pakistan A. They will face India A on 19th July after facing UAE on July 17.

This tournament includes the ‘A’ teams of the five full members of the Asian Cricket Council, along with the top three teams from the 2023 ACC Men’s Premier Cup – Nepal, UAE, and Oman.
