Sandeep Lamichhane’s chances of participating in the T20 World Cup 2024 suffered a setback after he was denied a US visa. Lamichhane took on his official social media accounts to inform that he was denied the visa by the US Embassy.

Sandeep Lamichhane’s tweet:

In 2019, he faced a similar situation when his visa was denied while attempting to travel to the Caribbean for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Nepal’s premium spinner, Lamichhane was all set to represent Nepal in the T20 World Cup after the Patan High Court acquitted him in the rape case. Soon after the court’s decision, his suspension was lifted by CAN as well.

On Tuesday, CAN issued a press release stating they are making every effort to ensure Lamichhane can participate in the mega event taking place in the USA and West Indies.

The deadline for boards to submit their final squads to the ICC is May 25. Therefore, it could be challenging for Lamichhane to participate in the World Cup if he doesn’t receive a visa soon.

Lamichhane took nine wickets in the T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers last year, the most for Nepal, securing their spot in the mega event after a decade.

The Nepalese team is already in Houston after playing three T20s against Windward Volcanoes in St. Vincent. They are scheduled to play two T20s against Houston Hurricanes before playing official warm-up games.
