Sandeep Lamichhane

For the first time in his ODI career, Sandeep Lamichhane has experienced a streak of two consecutive matches without a wicket.

Lamichhane went wicketless in the opening match against Zimbabwe and the match against the USA on Tuesday.

Lamichhane completed his ten-over spell with 58 for 0 against the USA. This is also the first time he has gone wicketless against the USA in ODI.

Out of the 45 ODI matches he has played, Leggie has encountered a fourth instance of being unable to pick up a wicket. His impressive run of consecutive matches with at least one wicket ended at a record 33 matches when he couldn’t dismiss any batter during the game against Zimbabwe on Sunday.

Lamichhane broke the record of Brett Lee’s 26-match streak against PNG on March 3 2023. Australia’s fiery pacer picked up a wicket in 26 consecutive matches between 2009 and 2011. West Indies’ Ian Bishop (1993-1996) and Afghanistan’s Hamid Hassan (2010-2015) also managed to pick a wicket in 25 and 24 consecutive matches respectively.

Sandeep Lamichhane became the fastest bowler to reach 100 ODI wickets surpassing the record of Rashid Khan on April 2023. Lamichhane achieved the feat in just 42 matches, beating Khan’s record of 44 ODI matches.
