Scotland have named uncapped spinner Ollie Jones and recalled batter Michael English in their 15-man squad for this month's ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 tour of Nepal.
Jones, an Ayr spinner, receives his first senior selection after impressing at the ICC Men's Under-19 World Cup earlier this year. English, the Ferguslie captain, returns to the squad after making a century on ODI debut against Namibia in 2024.
Scotland have also welcomed back left-arm seamer Bradley Currie, who missed the recent Namibia tour because of illness. He replaces Zainullah Ihsan in the squad.
Several players who toured Namibia recently are unavailable. Cricket Scotland said Chris McBride and Mackenzie Jones will miss the Nepal leg because of county or work commitments, or other personal reasons.
This will be Scotland Men's first visit to Nepal since February 2023, when they won the previous League 2 series played in Kirtipur. According to Cricket Scotland, Scotland currently sit second behind USA in the CWCL2 standings and will face both Nepal and the United States twice as they push for qualification for next year's ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier.
Head coach Owen Dawkins said the tour presents a major challenge against two strong teams in front of passionate home support in Nepal.
He also praised English's return, saying the batter had impressed on the recent A tour to Jersey and had shown he can bat in multiple positions. On Jones, Dawkins said Scotland had been tracking him for some time and that his Under-19 World Cup performances had earned him the opportunity.
The squad continues to be led by Richie Berrington and includes experienced names such as George Munsey, Brandon McMullen, Michael Leask, Mark Watt and Safyaan Sharif.
For Nepal, the announcement offers another early look at one of their main opponents for the next CWCL2 window in Kirtipur, with Scotland arriving with a mix of experience and fresh faces.
