Six banks reach top eight

Kathmandu/Cricnepal: Six Banks-NMB, Standard Chartered, Citizen, Century, Nepal Bank Limited, and the defending champions Bank of Asia, have qualified for the quarter final of the Soaltee Super sixes wining their round of 16 matches today at TU International Cricket Ground, Kritipur. Kantipur Media Group also entered the quarter finals.

NMB (A1) vs. Civil Bank(B2)

NMB Bank beat Civil Bank by 27 runs  thanks to an all round performance by Ravindra Chand; winning the toss and batting first NMB put a score of 76 runs without losing a wicket as Ravindra Chand scored 31 of 11 balls before the mandatory retiring. Chasing 77 Civil Bank could only manage 49 runs and lost 4 wickets getting there. Dipesh Shrestha bagged two wickets giving away eight runs  for NMB a bank. Chand gave away only three runs and picked up an important wicket.

Standard Chartered Bank (A2) vs. Soaltee Crowne Plaza(B1)

Standard Chartered bank qualified for the quarter finals beating the host Soaltee Crowne Plaza in a match that went to the last ball. Batting first Soaltee put up a score of 61 for loss of two wickets, Vivek Khadka top scoring for Soaltee with 28 n.o. if 17 balls. In reply Std. Chartered Bank got to the total in very last ball losing just one wicket, Rajkamal basnet 24 n.o to guide the team the victory.

Citizens Bank (C1) vs. Nabil Bank (D2)

Citizen Bank picked up a 25 run win against Nabil Bank to cruise to the quarter finals of the tournament. Citizen put up a target of 85 and in reply NaBil Bank were restriced for 59 runs.

Century Bank (D1)  Vs Surya Nepal (C2)

In the fourth pre quarter final pool D winner Century  Bank eased past Surya Nepal by 4 wickets and two overs to spare. batting first Surya Nepal were bowled out for 47 runs, Bikash sherstha of Citizen Bank getting a rare 3 wickt haul in a 5 over game. Century bank got to the total in 2 overs losing two wickets, Shankar Lal Shrestha scoring 18 runs of eight balls to guide century to easy victory.

Sunrise Bank (E1) Vs Nepal Bank Ltd. (F2)

In another one sided pre quarter final Nepal Bank Ltd thrashed  Sunrise Bank by 6 wickets and 12 balls to spate. Batting first sunrise shared similar fate Surya Nepal, being bowled out for 44 runs, Samir Giri and Sushil Karki picking two wickets a piece. Santa bahadur Shah and Samir Giri scored 31 n.o and 12 n.o repectively for Nepal Bank Ltd as they got to the target in 3 overs.

Bank of Asia (F1) Vs Siddharth Bank (E2)

Defending champions and pool F winners Bank of Asia hammered Siddhartha bank in pretty much one sided match. Batting first Siddhartha made mere 37 runs which Bank of Asia chased in 3.1 overs, Diwash Singh Thakuri scored 20 runs of 11 runs for the winning side. Earlier Amrit Shrestha had picked up 2 wickets giving away only 5 runs for Bank of Asia which helped to restrict Siddhartha to small total. Other bowlers also did an incredible job to bank of Asia, Santosh Rathi, Ayush Malla and Diwesh Dangol picked up a wicket each and gave away only 5, 3 and 9 runs respectively.

Kantipur Media Group (G1) Vs KIST Bank (H2)

In the final game of the day Kantipur Media group defeated KIST bank, who were playing their second match of the day, by 5 runs. Batting first thanks yet another brilliant innings of 33 runs from Suraj Thakuri put up a total of 83 runs without losing a wicket. Chasing the target KIST bank could only manage 78 runs. Raju KC KIST bank scored 35 runs of 12 balls, but was that was at no avail.

Earlier in day KIST bank had also lost to Indian embassy in their group match, thus qualifying as runners up. Indian Embassay will take on Sanima Bank tomorrow.

With 7 of the 8 pre-quarter final matches complete, 3 matches for quarter final have been decided. All four quarter final matches will take place tomorrow
