SPA defeat Mahendra Namuna to enter semi final

Cricnepal/Dhangadi: Host Sudur Paschimanchal Academy(SPA) entered into the semi final of the Hotel Devotee SPA Cup after a convincing six wictets victory over Mahendra Namuna College, Dadeldhura in the first quarter final match played today at DhangadI.

SPA chased the target of 120 runs in 18.4 overs with Bhuwan Karki top scoring 29 runs. Pankaj Kunwar added 25 while skipper Prakash Khadka and Sandeep Khadka contributed 19 and 15 runs respectively. Khemraj Bhatta took two wickets while Saroj Rawal and Rajendra Bhatta claimed a wicket each for Jagannath.

Earlier, Jagannath posted a total of 119 runs losing four wickets in 20 overs after opting to bat first. Ashok Chand remained unbeaten at 43 runs and Lokesh Bhatta scored 17 runs. Bikash Bom from SPA remained the pick of the bowlers with three wickets. Arjun Chapagain took a wicket.

Bhuwan was adjudged the player of the match.

While in the last match of the first round, Mahendra Namuna College, Dadeldhura defeated New Horizon College, Butwal by 13 runs.

Winning the toss, Mahendra Namuna chose to bat first and scored a moderate total of 151 runs in allotted 20 overs. Mahendra Namuna had a good opening with the share of 72 runs between Dilip Nath and Roshan Nepali for first wicket. Dilip later got out for 18 runs while Roshan played a magnificent innings of 75 runs off 40 balls. Roshan hit nine fours and four sixes. Prem Tamang contributed 23 runs. Ganesh Gaudel picked up three wickets while Devendra Somare, Sangam Thapa and Nirmal Thapa claimed a wicket each for New Horizon.

In reply, New Horizon managed to score only 141 runs in 20 overs. Prakash KC scored 51 runs while none of the other could manage to make good score. Krishna Sen and Susan Bhari added 18 and 17 runs respectively. Nirmal Thapa and Ganesh Gaudel scored 12 each. Sunil Tamang and Bikram Sob grabbed three wickets each for Mahendra. Ragbindra Singh and Niraj Rawal claimed one each.

Roshan Nepali was adjudged the player of the match.

Tomorrow, in the second quarter final match Pentagon International College, Kathmandu will face Kailali Multiple College, Kailali. In the another quarter final match, Mahendra Namuna College, Dadeldhura will lock horns with Triton International College, Kathmandu.
