Spinners shines as Tallawahs kickstart with comfortable win

Jamaica Tallawahs registers their first win of Caribbean Premier League beating St Lucia Zouks by 5 wickets in Tarouba on August 19.

Chasing 159, Tallawahs’s Glenn Phillips and Asif Ali guided their team to a comfortable 5-wicket win in the penultimate over. Phillips scored 44 from 29 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes while Asif Ali remained unbeaten on 47 from 27 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Furthermore, there were contributions from Andre Russell(16), Carlos Brathwaite (18*), and captain R Powell(26) in Tallawahs chase.

Earlier, tight spells from Nepal’s Legspinner Sandeep Lamichhane and Afghanistan’s off-spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman restricted St Lucia Zouks to 158 for 7. Lamichhane was economical of the two, giving away 23 runs from his four overs taking the wicket of Najibullah Zadran(25).

However, Mujeeb dismissed Chase and Mohammed Nabi and conceded 25 runs in his four overs.
