Sri Lankan U-23 dominate second practice Match

Cricnepal/Kathmandu – Sri Lanka Under 23s Team dominated Nepali Cricket Team in the second Practice Match by 132 runs played at Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, Colombo.

Nepal invited SL U-23 to bat first after Skipper Paras Khadka won the toss. They compiled 254 runs in their 50 overs losing 9 wickets. Opener Shehan and Danushka had opening partnership of 87 runs in 17.3 overs. Chathurangana top scored with 48 off 56 balls hitting three fours and a six, while Danushka 39(68 balls), Niroshan Dickwella 35(34 balls) & Charith Jayapanthi hammered 29 runs in 19 balls.

Meanwhile, Nepal had a disastrous start after opener Subash Khakurel was given leg before (LBW) with the first ball of their innings. Mahesh Chettri(3), Skipper (0) were the victim inside 3 balls when the scorebard was 12 runs for Nepal.

More disaster in the camp of Nepal as they were 16-5 in 13 overs after Binod Bhandari(0) & Sharad Veswarkar (1) felt cheaply. Anil Mandal and Prithu Baskota 22(35 balls)tried to consolidate the innings adding 46 runs for the 6th wicket. Anil reached his half century (51 from 99 balls) but never recovered from early disaster. He compiled his inining with 6 fours.

Nepal were bundled out for 122 in 40.1 overs, losing the match by 133 runs. Shakti Gauchan 21(29) remained not out as he scored two boundaries. Lahiru Jayaratne was pick of the bowler as he got 4 wickets for Srilanka.

Previously, Nepal lost its first Practice Match by 7 wickets against the same team on wednesday. They will now play their third practice match on Saturday.
