Sudurpaschim and APF victorious in the opening day of Lalitpur Mayor Women’s Championship

Lalitpur Mayor Women’s Championship got underway on Thursday at TU Cricket Ground. The opening day featured two matches, with Sudurpaschim facing Lalitpur Mayor’s XI and APF battling with Madhesh Province. Sudurpaschim and defending champions APF bagged two points on the first day.

In the first clash of the day, Sudurpaschim registered a 51-run win over Lalitpur Mayor’s XI. Opting to bat first, Samjhana Khadka’s unbeaten 51 runs helped them post 137/3 in 20 overs. Rabi Poddar and Kabita Joshi also contributed 28 and 27 runs respectively. 

In reply, Lalitpur were restricted to 86/7. Ritu Kanoujiya picked up a couple of wickets while the other five wickets were run out. Opener Laxmi Chaudhary scored the highest 25 runs for the losing side.

In the second match of the day, defending champions APF hammered Madhesh Province by ten wickets. Invited to bat first, Madhesh were bowled out for a mere 58 runs. Sonu Khadka was the pick of a bowler, grabbing four wickets, whereas Sita Rana Magar pocketed three wickets. Only Sana Praveen (25) could score a double-digit figure for Madhesh.

APF chased the total in just 7.3 overs. Sita Rana Magar scored an unbeaten 36-ball 45 for the winning side.

Samjhana Khadka and Sita Rana Magar were adjudged as players of the match in the first and second games respectively.
