Sudurpaschim Province clinches Gold in Women’s Cricket at Inter Province National Games

Sudurpaschim Province has won the Gold Medal in Women’s Cricket in the first-ever Inter Province National Games organized by the Bagmati Province Sports Development Council. They defeated Koshi Province by five wickets in the final match at Gautam Buddha International Cricket Ground (Sample Ground), Bharatpur, Chitwan.

Invited to bat first, Koshi Province managed to score 92 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Apsari Begam top-scored for Koshi with a sluggish 32 runs (57 runs). Rubina Chhetri notched up an 11-ball 17 whilst other batters couldn’t make a double-digit score.

For Sudurpaschim, Kabita Joshi was a pick of a bowler grabbing three wickets (4-0-11-3). Sneha Mahara and Ritu Kanojiya bagged two each.

In reply, Sudurpaschim chased the target in 19 overs losing five wickets. Bindu Rawal led from the front and scored 38 runs. Laxmi Saud and Sabitri Dhami made 12 runs each whereas Rubi Poddar and Kabita Kunwar scored 11 runs each.

Rubina Chhteri took two wickets for Koshi whereas Sangita Rai and Sabnam Rai grabbed one wicket each.

Seven Province competed in the tournament in a knockout format. Sudurpaschim’s Bindu Rawal, the tournament’s top run scorer was adjudged best batter of the tournament. Koshi’s Alisha Khadiya got the prize of best bowler of the tournament.
