Thames lifts Intercollege title

Kathmandu/Cricnepal: Kathford International College faced a painful loss as the host Thames International College lifted the title of the Thames Intercollege Twenty20 Cricket Tournament with a 7 wickets victory over Kathford here at Army Ground, Bhaktapur, today.

With Mahesh Joshi, only batsman to score a double digit figure scoring 14 runs, Kathford scored a low 75 runs in 19.2 overs which Thames chased easily in 10.2 overs with seven wickets remaining.

Put into to bat first, on losing the toss, Kathford started with a 24 runs stand for first wicket. Mahesh Joshi scoring 14 runs became the top scorer for the team before being sent as caught by Sujan Timalsina in the ball of Ashishman Singh. Kathford faced a major blow as they lost four wickets at the score of 44 runs leaving the game at 44 for 6. Rest of the batsman failed to score in double digit and it was the only 21 extras from Thames that provided Kathford a score of 75 runs.

Singh picked up three wickets while Eraj Shrestha and Prakash ojha shared four wickets between them – two wickets each for Thames.

In reply, Ojha made a 20 ball-30 with four fours and a six while Sagar Malla added 18 balls-16 with two boundaries to seal the victory easily. Bibhav Raj Joshi managed to score 13 runs before being run out.

For, Kathford, Deepak Raj Bhattar picked up two wickets.

Prajit Karmacharya from Universal College bagged the best batsmen award with 93 runs off three matches. Prakash Ojha from the host Thames was adjudged as best bowler with nine wickets from 4 matches.

Similarly, Eraj Shrestha from Thames took away the player of the tournament award. Shrestha scored 91 runs and took eight wickets conceding 53 runs during his 4 matches.
