The Cricket Association of Nepal unveils cricket calendar 2024

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has published the cricket calendar for the year 2024. CAN unveiled the calendar organising a press meet at TU Cricket Ground on Thursday.

The calendar includes both international fixtures and domestic cricket events. In 2024, there are a total of 34 programs outlined in the calendar, specifically designed for Nepal’s men’s team, A team, women’s team, and age-group teams.

For the first time, Nepal’s A team has been introduced with CAN putting forth a proposal for a series dedicated to the A team. This initiative aims to provide an opportunity for senior players facing challenges in securing a spot in the national teams and nurturing young talents.

The U-19 team will be involved in a High-performance camp in South Africa before participating in the U19 Cricket World Cup.

Under League-2, Nepal is set to face Netherlands and Namibia in February, Canada and Oman in September, and the USA and Scotland in October. T20 series against these countries are scheduled to take place concurrently with all three League-2 sessions. The women’s team will participate in nine international tournaments, including the ACC Premier Cup.

Likewise, the calendar specifies that the Nepal Premier League is scheduled to take place in November-December. The previous edition of the league faced controversy, but this time, the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) will personally oversee the League, as stated by Paras Khadka, the secretary of CAN. As per him, discussions are underway with various business houses and stakeholders for the upcoming event.

CAN has outlined 28 programs for domestic competitions including PM Cup, Tenth National Sports, different leagues, Age level tournaments and School Leagues.

For the first time, CAN published the cricket calendar year. CAN secretary, Paras Khadka mentioned that implementing CAN’s calendar faces challenges related to budget and infrastructure. He expressed that CAN will strive to secure financial resources for the budget, and efforts will be made to request the government for infrastructure development.
