Triton and NASA enter quarter final

Cricnepal/Dhangadi: Triton International College and NASA International College, Kathmandu made it into the quarter finals of the ongoing The Hotel Devotee SPA Cup in Dhangadi, with respective victories on Thursday.

Triton defeated Tripura Sunadri College, Achham by 44 runs while NASA registered a 3 wickets victory over Sunrise Higher Secondary School.

Winning the toss, Triton opted to bat first. Openers Dipendra Chaudhary and Sunny Pun made a 76 runs partnership for first wicket as Triton posted a big total of 185 runs. Dipendra later got out for 42 runs with 6 fours and a six during his 24 balls innings. Sunny Pun returned with the score of 29 runs. Rajesh Pulami made 26 runs while Antim Thapa quick fired 34 off 14 balls with four sixes and a four. Ajay Rajbanshi also added 18 runs.

For Tripura, Prem Saud took four wickets. Sagar Kunwar grabbed two while Pawan Nepali and Sanjeet Bista claimed a wicket each.

In reply, Tripura managed to score only 140 runs. Rajesh Sharma top scored for the losing team with 45 runs off 32 deliveries. Rajesh hit two sixes and five fours. Prem Singh added 34 runs and Harka Nepali contributed 12 but the other batsman couldn’t contribute enough runs for win.

Man of the match Keshav Pant picked up crucial three wickets conceding only 12 runs while Ajay Rajbanshi, Manoj Mandal and Sunam Gautam took a wicket each for Triton.

While in the second match, Sunrise opted to bat first and scored a low total of 90 runs losing all wickets in 19.1 overs. Bhim Karki scored 24 while Tekendra Malla added 19 for the team. Beside these two, none of the batsman managed to score a double digit fugure. Player of the match Durgesh Singh took important three wickets and Tusif Alaha claimed two wickets for NASA.

NASA in reply chased the target in 16 overs losing seven wickets. Subash Pradhan scored 19 runs while Rahul Singh with the score of 14 was the only other major contributor for the team’s chase. Dipendra Airee claimed three wickets for NASA. Asok Bhatta also picked up two.

The last match of the first round will be played between New Horizon Butwal and Namuna College, Dadeldhura on Friday. The quarter final matches are also scheduled to start from tomorrow. Host Sudur Paschimanchal Academu(SPA) will take on Jagannath Multiple College, Baitadi in the first quarter final match.
