Triton beat Bridgewater to enter the semi-finals

Triton International College defeated Bridgewater College by four wickets to advance to the semi-finals of the Spice Classic Twenty20 Inter-college Cricket Tournament here at the Tribhuvan University (TU) Stadium today.

Batting first after winning the toss, Bridgewater were bowled out for 83 runs in 19.4 overs, while Triton reached the target losing six wickets in 14.4 overs.

Prasanna Shakya top scored for Triton with a quick fire 24 off 13 balls including a four and two sixes, while Indra Kamal Manandhar and Rajesh Pulami scored 19 runs each. Prakash Bista took two wickets for Bridgewater, while Rahul Bansal and Chakra Prakash Singh claimed one each.

Earlier, Jay Prakash Gupta scored 31-ball 19 for Bridgewater, while Basant Khatri made 16 off 17 balls. Chakra Prakash Singh and Rahul Bansal contri-buted 15 and 11 respectively. For Triton, Rajesh Pulami was the pick of the bowlers with 3-7 off 2.4 overs that also earned him the man-of-the-match award, while Bijay Gautam claimed one wicket each.

In the other match, TU team thumped Kantipur City College (KCC) by 91 runs. Batting first, TU scored 197-5 in 20 overs and restricted KCC for 106-7.

Suman Uday struck five fours and a six in his fiery 61 not out of just 50 balls, while Ishan Baniya scored a quick fire 52 off 32 balls including four boundaries and three sixes for TU. Also, Pramod Basnet hit two fours and three sixes in his 16-ball 33.

For KCC, T Rajan, Ram Naresh Yadav, Anand Sagar Singh and Amit Alok took one wicket each. In reply, Prajesh Thapa was the highest contributor for KCC with an unbeaten 25 off 36 balls. Avinash Adhikari (18) and Ram Naresh Yadav (10 off four balls including two fours) were the only other batsmen to score in double figures.

Sudip Sharma took two, while Anil Adhikari, Pramod Basnet and Amit Shres-tha claimed one wicket each for TU. Suman Uday of TU was named the man-of-the-match.

On Saturday, St Lawrence will take on Classic ‘A’, while Pentagon fave Gil-lette International College at the same venue.
