Triton Claim First Inter-University Cricket Tournament Trophy

Triton defeated host KU in the final by 25 runs of the first Inter University Cricket Tournament, played today at Kathmandu University Ground, Dhulikhel.

Winning the toss Triton chose to bat first. Having batten brilliantly all throughout the tournament Triton posted a score of 168/8 in 20 overs. Suman Uday top scored for Triton with steady 39 of 49 balls. Ujjawal Thapa and Bijay Gutam contributed 29 each, while Ritesh Singh made 28 of 13 balls to take the score to 168. For KU captain Pragyesh Dhungel grabbed 3 wickets giving 31 runs. Saurav Thapa bagged 2 giving just 23 in his four overs.

In reply KU were able to post 143 runs in allotted 20 overs. Raunak Jung Thapa top scored the batting card getiing 32 of 26 balls. Raj Timalsina(18), Krishna Bista (18) and Pawan Nepal(17) all got starts but couldn’t convert the start to big innings. Indra Kamal Manandhar  and Sanjay Shrestha bagged 2 wickets for Triton to restrict KU 25 runs off the target.

Suman Uday from Triton got the player of the match. The winner of the tournament received a cash prize of Rs. 51,000 while the runner up KU bagged 30,000.

Kathmandu University’s Krishna Bista was awarded the player of the tournament for his all round performance all throughout the tournament.  Bista took KU to final winning two player of the match awards in quarter and semi final of the tournament. Player of the tournament Bista also received Rs.11000 cash.

Robin Joshi from Triton was declared the best batsmen while Indra Kamal Manandhar got the best bolwer’s honor.  Both best bowler and batsmen got Rs.9000 cash reward.
