Triton in quarter-finals

KATHMANDU: Prithu Baskota scored a fluent half century and Shakti Gauchan took four wickets as Triton International College beat Sudur Paschimanchal Academy by 113 runs to advance to the quarter-finals of the fourth CCRC Inter-college Cricket Tournament here at the Tribhuvan University Stadium today.

Electing to bat first, Triton scored a massive 160-7 in the allotted 20 overs before restricting Sudur Paschimanchal for 47 runs in 14.4 overs in the Group ‘C’ match. Man-of-the-match Prithu top scored with 70 for Triton. Prithu, who was bowled while trying a big shot in the last ball of their innings, stroked four sixes and a four in his 49-ball knock.

Manjit Shrestha hit two sixes in his 15-ball 22 while Paresh Lohani (16), Sharad Vesawkar (15) and Binod Bhandari (13) also contributed valuable runs to the Triton total.

For Sudur Paschimanchal, Bikash Bom (3-21) and Prakash Khadka (3-35) shared six wickets between them. Santosh Bhatta also snared two and Arjun Chapagain one wicket.

Only Jeevan Sunwar made a notable contribution with the bat in a hapless Sudur Paschimanchal batting performance. The only Sudur Paschimanchal batsman to reach the double figure, Jeevan hit two fours and a six in his 14-ball 20. Shakti Gauchan was pick of the Triton bowlers with 4-6 from four overs, including three in four balls. Rupesh Shrivastav, Ritesh Singh, Prithu, Sharad and Paresh also grabbed one wicket each.
