Triton, Jubilant win at CCRC T20

KATHMANDU, June 23: Triton International and Jubilant College won their respective matches on Thursday in the Fourth CCRC T20 Tournament.

Triton defeated Kathmandu Engineering College by 10 wickets while Jubilant beat Kathmandu University by six wickets at the TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.

In the first match of the day, Kathmandu Engineering won the toss and elected to bat first. However, Triton´s tight bowling bundled them out for 89 runs in 19.1 overs.

Sarad Vesawkar took three wickets and Paras Khadka and Shakti Gauchan grabbed two wickets each for Triton, while Partha Sapkota (18 runs), Nirmal Simangaida (28 runs) and Anup Gurung (12 runs) were the only batsmen to score in double digits for Kathmandu Engineering.

In the easy run chase, Paresh Lohani scored unbeaten 34 runs off 19 balls and man-of-the-match Binod Bhadari smashed 50 runs off 20 balls to seal the 10-wicket victory for Triton.

In the second match of the day, Kathmandu University elected to bat first and scored 99 runs in allotted 20 overs losing five wickets. Abhishek KC remained not out for the university team at 36 runs while opener Ankit Bikram Paudel scored 17 runs. Jubilant gave away 21 runs for extras but kept Kathmandu University below a 100 mark.

Ishwor Tiwari took two wickets for Jubilant.

Jubilant met the minimal target in 14.3 overs losing four wickets. Sunny Pun scored 21 runs while Antim Thapa struck 31 runs off 33 balls. Roshan Bam added unbeaten 16 runs to take team to the victory.

Bahadur Chhetri took two wickets for the losing side Kathmandu University.

Antim Thapa of Jubilant was adjudged man-of-the-match as he took a wicket as well.
