TU Stadium gates open

KATHMANDU: The Tribhuvan University (TU) cricket team agreed to open the TU Stadium gates after they reached to an understanding with the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Free Student Union (FSU).

The players had on Sunday padlocked the stadium for an indefinite period after submitting the memorandum to CAN and FSU. “We decided to open the TU Stadium gates after CAN President Binay Raj Pandey and FSU President Himal Sharma agreed to address our demands,” said the TU team skipper Anil Adhikari.

The protestors had demanded to make public the MoU reached between the TU and CAN and the financial dealings related to the grounds; to include the TU team in all the tournaments played at the stadium free of cost; and appoint a coach for the TU team.

As the first step towards solving the problem, the TU team was included in the Spice Classic Inter-college Tournament beginning on Tuesday, said Adhikari.
