UAE bags a mammoth win after posting 471 runs

United Arab Emirates (UAE) registered yet another mammoth win in the ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2023. After being stunned by Hong Kong in the previous match, UAE came back well and defeated Singapore by massive 201 runs at TU Cricket Ground.

With a third consecutive loss, Singapore are out of the tournament. UAE will face Bahrain in the last match to ensure their position in the top four.

Invited to bat first, Skipper Muhammad Waseem and Vriitya Aravind scored a daddy hundred as UAE posted a humungous total of 471 runs. The duo shared 246 runs for the second wicket before Waseem departed for an electrifying 82-ball 160, smacking 16 sixes. Aravind scored 174 runs from 133 balls with the help of 17 fours and seven sixes. Aayan Khan also made 74 from 50 balls to help his side post a gigantic total.

Adwitya Bhargava grabbed four wickets for Singapore, whereas Ramesh Kalimuthu pocketed three. Only Vinoth Baskaran, who picked up two wickets, ended up with an economy of less than seven. 

In reply, Singapore could post only 270/9, resulting in a massive defeat. Manpreet Singh top scored with 66 runs, while Thilipan Omaidurai made 52 runs. Surendran Chandramohan and Aritra Dutta assisted 38 runs each. 

For UAE, Karthik Meiyappan, Sanchit Sharma and Aayan Khan picked up two wickets each. 

UAE will face Bahrain in their final league-stage match on April 26 at Mulpani. Meanwhile, Singapore will look to end the tournament with a win against Kuwait at TU Cricket Ground on April 25.
