UAE clinch ACC Men’s Premier Cup title to qualify for the Asia Cup

United Arab Emirates has won the title of ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2024. UAE qualified for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 after emerging victorious in the tournament. UAE defeated the home side Oman by 55 runs in the final match held at Al Amerat on Sunday.

Meanwhile, UAE, Oman and Hong Kong – the tournament’s top three teams have qualified for the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. Nepal missed out on that as well after losing a third-place game against Hong Kong.

Invited to bat first, Oman posted a massive total of 204/4 in the allotted 20 overs. Skipper Muhammad Waseem was the hero with a terrific century. He hammered 100 from 56 balls with the help of six fours and seven sixes. Apart from him, Asif Khan made 38 runs (16 balls) while Alishan Sharafu scored 38 runs.

Bilal Khan picked up two wickets for Oman whereas Zeeshan Maqsood and Shakeel Ahmad also got one wicket each.

In response,  Oman were restricted to 149/9. They were in a pitiful situation of 11/3 at one stage that turned to 58/6 after a while. Pratik Athavale scored a brisk 49 runs to help his side post a respectful total. Khalid Kali scored 30 whilst Ahmad Fayyaz Butt notched up 23 runs at the end. 

For UAE, Junaid Siddique picked up three wickets. Mohammad Farooq and Aayan Khan got two wickets each.
